An Introduction to Cheryl Gardner’s Poetic Muse

Inner Voice

Silence, black and dull, surrounds me
Crushing me with it’s weight.
In my mind, sounds softly hearken
Amidst the silence in flight.
I listen intently with bent ear
For just one syllable to surrender.
But the thoughts all render, in fear
And refuse my closed mouth to enter.
Words that once were vocal
Became whispers in my mind.
Images of sound….captured….
Sound waves ~ swirling blind.
The weight grows more heavy
As the volume of sound increases…
All trapped in the void of silence
Where in the vastness, it ceases.
Like a tempest energy grows…..
Mounting thoughts and sounds build.
A mighty Deluge ~ bursts and flows.
The silence broken….I speak one word.
